If this is your first time here, glad to have you visit! Been a pretty busy last few months but have finally had some time to go through the past year, at least a little bit….Over the past few months met a ton of new folks and it has been a pleasure talking with all, so many people out there from all over truly moved by our wonderful and unique culture. There is a lot of material to see on the site, you can expand the categories or older posts tab at the bottom of this page and look around that way, along the top of this page there are several tabs to activate by clicking, the most popular being the portfolio/slideshow tab which will bring you to a page where I have posted about 15 musical slideshows of some events I have covered and shoots I have done, ENJOY! I have only had the time to put about 10% of my work on the site but you get the idea of what I do, the good news is that I have a Studio and Gallery in the Bywater at which you can have access to all of my work. Having people over to the gallery is the part of what I do that I enjoy most because ultimately we all become good friends after what was supposed to be a 20 minute visit turns into 5 hours. So don’t hesitate to give me a buzz and make an appointment, I live next door and work here so if I’m not out on a shoot, I’m generally available by appointment at anytime my schedule permits! I have an inventory of autographed limited edition prints on hand autographed by Dr. John, George Porter Jr., Kermit Ruffins, Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, Al “Carnival Time” Johnson, Anders Osborne, Cyril Neville, John Mooney, Uncle Lionel Batiste, Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews and Juvenile and Big Sam Williams and if I don’t have them on hand I can easily arrange to have any print autographed upon request, just inquire for details….and you can be assured that the musicians are paid generously from your purchase of these special prints. As you can see what my passion is, I do have a large inventory of New Orleans scenes and Architecture which embody the same beautiful message. I also am set up for on site or in studio photo shoots and have many large corporate clients working with them in fields such as marketing, architecture and food. I also shoot occasional weddings alone, concentrating on capturing the most personal, powerful and intimate moments of such a special occasion. Shamarr Allen unleashes on the Jazz Tent at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival….

Shamarr Allen and the Underdawgs served up an eclectic musical feast at the Jazz Tent this year featuring traditional jazz standards from the “Meet Me on Frenchman St.” CD, to the self descirbed brand new “Box Who In?” CD. From jazz to rap to rock to funk, Shamarr and his “Underdawgs” were a definite crowd pleaser, just look at their faces! Oh, not like that wasn’t enough, Shamarr is now in the studio with new cohort Willie Nelson working on Willie’s new cd…………So how much longer will we be able to enjoy Shamarr Allen regularly in New Orleans? Studio and Gallery open this Saturday and Sunday!

Happy French Quarter Fest Everyone!! 1 more week till the big one…..
This Saturday and Sunday, my studio at 725 Montegut St. in the Bywater will be open to the public from 9-at least 1 on Saturday and 9-1 on Sunday. I will be more than happy to take appointments outside these hours or early next week for visitors. Large selection of architecture, indians, and more, all orders are customizable and framing available!
I have revamped my website so it looks a little different, the musical galleries are under the portfolio tab for now, and I just added an unbelievable slideshow from Super Sunday! I have also recently completed 2 studio photo shoots with Al “Carnival Time” Johnson and yesterday with Big Chief Monk Boudreaux fully suited. These will be available soon in a one of a kind edition print and canvas, autographed by each subject! More info soon to come.
Obviously I will not be at the Bywater Art Market but I highly recommend a visit while in the neighborhood, its at Markey Park, 4 blocks from my studio.

Something funny happened tonight, one of my good customers was over, his name is Barry Marks, we were going through pics and he saw your name on one of my folders, turns out as you know, he know you well and your cousin Maurey…..its a small small world isn’t it, or those whoare like minded eventually gravitate towards each other…. go figure….I have a few more to find in the morning but this should get you started….Jerry
