Here are some of the shots I was able to take while out at the Crescent City Blues Fest last weekend…

There was soooo much great music out there over the weekend and such wonderful people, my favorites were of course Ernie Vincent and the Top Notes, kinda expected cause I manage them too…that being said Sonny Landreth was on fire, Buddy Guy brought his powerful self as usual, but I think the shows I really enjoyed most were a couple that were on the small stage which was conveniently right next to my photography tent! On Saturday it was really nice to see JD Hill and the Jammers(used to live for those Tuesday shows at Benny’s back in the day), Robert Belfour blew me away as usual, on Sunday a pleasant mesmerizing surprise was Chris Smither and I think the one I enjoyed most was T-Model Ford, nothing like watching and listening to these old guys taking over a crowd and putting them under a beautiful spell…….it was quite nice indeed!! Ernie Vincent CD Release Party at DBA….

Here are some images from the incredible(cold blooded) show at DBA last Thursday, special thanks to the band, Ernie Vincent, Andrew Duhon(Harmonica, guitar, vocals), Eric Heigle(drums), Phil Breen(keyboard), James Martin(sax), Shamarr Allen(screaming trumpet), Cornell Williams(bass), and to Monk Boudreaux and Irving Bannister for comin to sit in for some songs. a very special evening indeed! The looks on peoples faces says it all about what went down at DBA last Thursday. Images from the show at Chickie Wah Wah last Friday have been posted, not my normal vast selection. Ernie and the band were on fire and I pretty much put the camera down, sat back and enjoyed the intimate setting with the rest of the folks. Definitely one of those shows I will not forget soon, if you haven’t had the opportunity to catch these guys, they will be at Bank Street Bar this Thursday, 7/9 from 8-10 and Ernie’s CD release party will be at DBA on the 16th of July, 7-9 he will play acoustic Delta Blues from his new cd ‘Bayou Road Blues” with Andrew Duhon and from 10-till the funk’n blues party with special guests begins with the Top Notes…Don’t miss this one!!

Big Chief Monk Boudreaux Second Lines fot the first time in 30 yrs!

Normally behind the scenes making all of the outfits for second lines, Monk participated in one for the first time in 30yrs. I asked my friend Monk why its been so long and he said quite simply, ” I’m just always on tour or out of town when the Men of Unity parade…..” Monk made up for time missed with one of the longest second lines I’ve been to, winding throuogh uptown, down St.Charles Avenue(which I had never seen before), zig zagin through neighborhoods between Louisiana and Second, all the way back up Louisiana to Tchoupitoulas and slowly ending at The Rock Bottom where the ladies were initially met…What a beautiful day it was. I asked Monk towards the end how he pulled this rare route off, he smiled and said, ” glad you had a good time Jerry……” It was much more than a good time.
