Anders Osborne at Blue Moon Saloon

Last night I had the pleasure of going to catch Anders Osborne with Jon Gross on sousaphone and tuba and Doug Belote on drums over at The Blue Moon Saloon and Guesthouse located in Lafayette, La., and what a nice change of pace that turned out to be. Ernie Vincent who I manage took the drive over with me and sat in with Anders on a few songs which was a pleasure to take in…….Anders put on his usual electrifying show, and him and Ernie collaborated on three songs, Ernie Vincent’s swampy blues tunes “River City People”, “Swamp Daddy’s” (of which I have a youtube video below the pics) and and off the hook version of “Red House”……If you haven’t heard of the “Blue Moon” as I hadn’t before yesterday, I would highly recommend you check their site out and if your ever in Lafayette, you now know one stop to put on the list!

Ernie Vincent and the Top Notes Live at d.b.a.

Last week Ernie Vincent and the Top Notes put on another smokin show at d.b.a. in New Orleans, and this time we were lucky enough to get it recorded. The tapes came out so good that we will be releasing a Live at d.b.a. CD in time for the upcoming French Quarter Fest and the rest of the “Fest” season! It’s been a busy last few weeks, this weekend we will be completing “The Shed” Tour, Lafayette last Saturday, Mobile Alabama tomorrow, and finally Ocean Springs on Saturday! The weather is going to be beautiful for the outdoor venue in Ocean Springs so if your on the coast, be sure to drop by for another electric Ernie Vincent and the Top Notes Funk’n Blues show. Also next Thursday March 11th, the band will start a Thursday evening thru Jazz Fest stint at the historical Ernie K Doe’s Mother in Law Lounge, with the following weeks adding New Orleans own Shaggy’s Crawfish Boil Inc to the mix for a Funk’n Blues’n Crawfish Happy Hours show! More news to come on DAT!

There was soooo much great music out there over the weekend and such wonderful people, my favorites were of course Ernie Vincent and the Top Notes, kinda expected cause I manage them too…that being said Sonny Landreth was on fire, Buddy Guy brought his powerful self as usual, but I think the shows I really enjoyed most were a couple that were on the small stage which was conveniently right next to my photography tent! On Saturday it was really nice to see JD Hill and the Jammers(used to live for those Tuesday shows at Benny’s back in the day), Robert Belfour blew me away as usual, on Sunday a pleasant mesmerizing surprise was Chris Smither and I think the one I enjoyed most was T-Model Ford, nothing like watching and listening to these old guys taking over a crowd and putting them under a beautiful spell…….it was quite nice indeed!! Here are some images from the incredible(cold blooded) show at DBA last Thursday, special thanks to the band, Ernie Vincent, Andrew Duhon(Harmonica, guitar, vocals), Eric Heigle(drums), Phil Breen(keyboard), James Martin(sax), Shamarr Allen(screaming trumpet), Cornell Williams(bass), and to Monk Boudreaux and Irving Bannister for comin to sit in for some songs. a very special evening indeed! The looks on peoples faces says it all about what went down at DBA last Thursday. Images from the show at Chickie Wah Wah last Friday have been posted, not my normal vast selection. Ernie and the band were on fire and I pretty much put the camera down, sat back and enjoyed the intimate setting with the rest of the folks. Definitely one of those shows I will not forget soon, if you haven’t had the opportunity to catch these guys, they will be at Bank Street Bar this Thursday, 7/9 from 8-10 and Ernie’s CD release party will be at DBA on the 16th of July, 7-9 he will play acoustic Delta Blues from his new cd ‘Bayou Road Blues” with Andrew Duhon and from 10-till the funk’n blues party with special guests begins with the Top Notes…Don’t miss this one!!

LIVE AT STUDIO WEDNESDAY 4-29…..ernie vincent

I am very pleased to announce that Blues guitar legend Ernie Vincent and Andrew Duhon will be performing live at my Gallery on 4-29 from 1-7ish. Andrew and Ernie have recently completed an incredible acoustic blues CD which will be released hopefully sometime in May. Andrew will also be performing songs of his own from his critically acclaimed CD “Songs I Wrote Before I Knew You”. My whole photography inventory will be accessible, and several new one of a kind editioned and autographed prints of Al “Carnival Time” Johnson and Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, both of which I had the pleasure of shooting in my studio recently, will be released for the first time! And of course there will be some other notables in attendance…… HAPPY JAZZ FEST EVERYONE!!!

Music lovers, this Saturday I will have my photography gallery, 725 Montegut St.-see map below, open to the public from 9a-6p. For your listening enjoyment, Blues Legend Ernie Vincent will be playing a solo show of his soon to be released acoustic Delta Blues! Come by and enjoy, the weather looks fantastic….There will also be street sales on the 6,7, and 800 blocks of Montegut St and Mitch Gaudet’s Inferno Studio and Gallery will also be open, along with the Bywater Art Market 4 blocks away. Come on down to da BYWATER for a great day!

Ernie Vincent and The Top Notes

Back in January, I took over the career management of good friend Ernie Vincent. In a short three or four months a lot has happened. A new CD of Acoustic Louisiana Delta Blues entitled “Bayou Road Blues” is coming out July 2nd. Up and coming bluesman Andrew Duhon plays harmonica on the cd, and special appearances are made by Big Chief Monk Boudreaux and West Bank Mike. In addition to this, we have put together his Top Notes Band again and will be opening up for Big Chief Monk Boudreaux and the Golden Eagles on Saturday 6/20/09 at Uptown Tipitinas! Ernie also has two more shows scheduled in early July st bank street and DBA, surely more to come! You can Keep up with Ernie Vincent and the Top Notes through Myspace, Facebook, Reverb Nation, and of course at his home website! I’ll be posting some pics soon, haven’t had much time lately to attend to my photography….but its not every day you get to help relaunch the career of a funk’n blues icon and more importantly my great friend!
